50x2030 commits to work plan for its second operational year

The 50x2030 Initiative has just released its annual work plan for 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021 (FY2021), the second operational year of the Initiative. The plan details country and research activities that will be undertaken by the three implementing agencies – Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Bank -- and on the core activities of the 50x2030 Program Management Team.  

Responding to developments both within the Initiative and in the broader development context, the work plan also reflects the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in adjustments to some activities. On the other hand, these shifts have allowed additional time to set forth the development and testing of fundamental procedures for implementation of the Initiative, such as the engagement process for partner countries and the consolidation of working procedures with implementing agencies. 

The FY2021 work plan was endorsed by the Initiative’s highest decision-making body, the Partnership Council, which consists of high-level representatives of development partners, partner countries and the program’s three implementing agencies. Under the new work plan period, the Initiative will be active in Armenia, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Malawi, Nepal, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda and in two countries to be selected by the Partnership Council in January 2021.
