Tanzania Annual Agricultural Sample Survey Results Released with Support from 50x2030
The 50x2030 Initiative is pleased to announce that the Tanzanian National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the Office of the Chief Government Statistician (OCGS) have officially released the results of the Tanzania Annual Agricultural Sample Survey (AASS) 2022/23, which is the first ever under the 50x2030 Initiative. This survey is a vital resource for understanding the agricultural landscape in Tanzania, offering valuable insights into key indicators such as farm production, productivity and resource utilization.
The AASS 2022/23 is part of ongoing commitment of the Tanzania Statistical System to improve data quality and accessibility in the agricultural sector, ensuring evidence-based policymaking and sustainable agricultural development. By covering 31 regions and over 17,000 agricultural holdings, the survey addresses key aspects such as crop production, livestock, aquaculture, input use, labor, costs, farm investments and more. These data points are essential for tracking Tanzania’s progress and contribute to the monitoring of the National Five-Year Development Plan (FYDP III 2021/22 – 2025/26), as well as regional and global frameworks like the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The results and corresponding microdata are now available for download via the Tanzania National Data Archive (TNADA) platform, providing open access to stakeholders, researchers and policymakers to facilitate data-driven decisions. Users can request and download the microdata from the platform to further analyze and extract valuable insights on agricultural performance.
