Efforts Underway to Launch Annual Agriculture Survey in Guinea with 50x2030 Support
This October, the 50x2030 Initiative Program Management Team traveled to Conakry to conduct a workshop in advance of data collection efforts. This mission to Guinea will contribute to data-driven policy development in support of national agriculture and food security goals.
The 50x2030 Initiative launched its partnership with Guinea in early 2024. In initial meetings with representatives from the National Statistics Institute (INS) and the National Agency of Agricultural Statistics (ANASA) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAGEL), the Initiative facilitated discussions to identify Guinea’s specific objectives and the most effective strategies to leverage future data collected in order to add value for data governance in support of agricultural goals.
50x2030 is partnering with Guinea to launch its annual agricultural survey – the Enquête Agricole Annuelle Intégrée. Data collection began on 28 October and the initial results on will be released in early April 2025. The full survey report will follow later in the summer once completed.
The recent workshop focused on preparing a group of trainers to understand and implement the questionnaire properly. As a result of the workshop, the trainers will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to prepare 230 surveyors who will collect the survey data. The surveyors have been selected jointly by the ANASA and MAGEL. It is the second of such workshops held in Guinea and a critical step toward building a culture of data use in Guinea.
