50x2030 Supports Côte d'Ivoire in Launching Agricultural Survey 2024-2025

In July 2024, the 50x2030 Initiative successfully completed a technical assistance mission in Côte d'Ivoire, with the primary objective of supporting the Ministry of Agriculture in the training and deployment of field survey teams for the upcoming 2024-2025 agricultural survey.

The training of enumerators is a critical step in implementing Côte d'Ivoire's integrated survey program under the 50x2030 Initiative, which aims to enhance the quality and timeliness of agricultural data collection. 50x2030 is designed to address long-standing gaps in agricultural statistics, providing essential data for informed decision-making in the agricultural sector.

The supervision of training sessions for surveyors was a key component of the mission. The Data Production team, along with the national technical staff and local authorities, visited several training centers across the country, including Bouaké, where the surveyors were being trained in data collection techniques using advanced tools such as tablets and specialized equipment for yield measurement. The mission also involved direct engagement with trainers and surveyors, ensuring that they are well-prepared for the fieldwork ahead.

The training sessions covered eight regions, involving 670 surveyors and controllers, who will play a crucial role in the data collection process. Mr. Ouattara Albert, Director of Statistics, Documentation, and Information Technology (DSDI), led the local efforts, emphasizing the importance of this survey in improving the accuracy and reliability of agricultural data in Côte d'Ivoire.

The mission was conducted by 50x2030’s Data Production component, which is led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). It underscores the Initiative’s dedication to advancing agricultural data systems in Côte d'Ivoire, contributing to better production outcomes and sustainable agricultural development in the region.
