GEORGIA PREPARES AGRICULTURAL SURVEY ON PRODUCTION METHODS AND ENVIRONMENT MODULE

A large-scale training for over 200 field staff of the National Statistics of Georgia was held on April 30 to May 3 in preparation for the conduct of the agricultural survey covering production methods and environment, one of the rotating modules under the 50x2030 Initiative.

The survey aims to generate additional indicators on agro-environmental themes (e.g., energy use, land use, soil conservation methods, irrigation methods, soil fertilization, seed utilization, plant protection products, animal reproduction methods, veterinary products used, animal housing, manure management, organic farming, agroforestry, services and infrastructure used by the holding, adaptation to climate change, and hazards). Results of the survey will contribute towards the country’s monitoring and reporting of the UN Sustainable Development Goals indicator 2.4.1 – Proportion of agricultural area under productive and sustainable agriculture.

Georgia is the first partner country of the 50x2030 Initiative to collect data on Production Methods and Environment.
