Overview
Indonesia has been strengthening its agricultural statistics system through the implementation of the Integrated Agricultural Survey (SITASI), which aims to improve the availability, quality, and timeliness of agricultural data, including at sub-national levels. Working closely with Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Agriculture, and other partners, 50x2030 supports the continued development of the country’s agricultural survey program and the use of agricultural data for evidence-based policymaking.
The partnership builds on Indonesia’s experience with SITASI and the 2023 Census of Agriculture (ST2023). Following the nationwide implementation of SITASI in 2021 and the completion of ST2023, SITASI 2024 was implemented in June 2024 with a sample of around 330,000 agricultural holdings. The survey used the AGRIS Economic (ECO) module and was supported by 50x2030, including assistance during data processing.
Under the country program, 50x2030 is supporting three consecutive rounds of annual agricultural surveys, combining a core module with rotating modules covering farm economy, production methods and environment, labour, and machinery, equipment and assets. The program also supports the use of Small Area Estimation techniques, where appropriate, to improve the availability of agricultural statistics at sub-provincial levels.
The program places a strong emphasis on data quality, strengthening national capacities across the survey cycle, and improving the dissemination and use of agricultural data. Support includes technical assistance on survey design, sampling, data collection, processing, validation, estimation, tabulation, dissemination, and the production of anonymized microdata.
